New Teen Fiction

Shark Girl by Kelly Bingham

A day at the beach turns into a nightmare, when Jane only four feet away from the shore is attacked by a shark. Her injury results in the amputation of her right arm, as she lies in hospital bed she wonders why, why did this have to happen, she was going to be an artist, how was she ever going to live without being able to draw. Bingham uses poems, letters, telephone conversations, and newspaper clippings to look unflinchingly at what it’s like to lose part of yourself - and to summon the courage it takes to find yourself again.
